About Me
Writer. Traveler. Storyteller. Music and Pop Culture enthusiast.
Grace Chen is an aspiring multi-modal journalist in Vancouver who wants to tell stories that matter. She previously attended Queen's University and is now at BCIT's Journalism program. Grace has big career goals that includes eventually working in the 'media hub' of the world-- New York City. Grace aspires to earn a career focused on news, culture, lifestyle, and entertainment journalism.
Her previous experiences include contributing articles for the Queen's Journal, Her Campus Magazine, and Mend Mental Health. She has written articles about campus culture, entertainment, social justice, and advice columns. In particular, the impact of technology on the impact of Generation Z is of particular interest. Additionally, she has played roles in social media marketing and creative branding by creating and promoting graphics for clubs. Announcements and liaising with local businesses allowed her to market with clients. Her work promoting the new SideChat App, a Twitter-like platform popular across North American colleges, strengthened her digital marketing skills.
The New York Times and Spotify podcasts have been her first inspiration points in to this industry. She discovered her interest after seeing the Times reporting on case numbers and perspectives from high school and University-aged students during the shift to remote learning.
Grace is here to learn more about the world of words. Seek out facts and report to the public. Tell the truth, albeit the truth/Talk to people, listen to others. Tell other people's stories-- it's time.
She is excited to graduate BCIT in 2025 and hopefully then move to the booming media market of the Big Apple-- New York City.
